Capital Campaign Mission
This holy space was given to us by Jews we did not know, who did not know us. For our love of this space and what it has brought to our lives, we must preserve and develop it — for ourselves, for our children, and for those we do not know, who will come to use it in the future.

Capital Campaign Vision
• To preserve and restore our sacred space to its former glory
• To create a setting that meets the functional needs of the community for prayer, learning, social and other community activities
• To ensure that our setting is accessible to all

Reaching our Goal
The only way PSJC will realize our dreams is for each member to contribute to the Capital Campaign, giving at whatever level is possible. In different ways, some large and some small, this space has enriched the lives of every one of us. We have prayed together, watched our children grow to b’nai mitzvah, socialized, mourned and rejoiced in this building. As members of this community we each must assume the responsibility for repairing and restoring our physical home.

Accomplishments
Our more than 80-year-old, landmark building received no serious maintenance in the years prior to the Capital Campaign. Initial work focused on the ravages of time and the elements. We put on a new roof and made other essential repairs to the building exterior, restored our beautiful sanctuary and many of our stained glass windows, improved our classroom space and made many other long-delayed upgrades.

What’s Next?
Our first step is to raise $1.2 million dollars to ensure the building’s integrity and move forward to make the building more welcoming, more functional and more secure.
The Entryway The centerpiece of our work is replacement of the current entryway with one that reflects the same sense of community and sacred space that we have created in our Sanctuary – we envision a gracious, safe and welcoming stair and entrance that convey the character of PSJC to one and all.

Completing Preservation Additional work includes a new waterproof foundation and sidewalks and a major upgrade to our electrical system.

Interior Classroom

Classrooms and Social Hall Once we have a waterproof foundation in place, we will be able to renovate the lower level, greatly improving our classroom space and social hall, and adding modern, handicapped-accessible restrooms.

Interior Social Hall

Side Yard Addition

Elevator, offices, storage space, bathroom Our ultimate goal, which will require raising altogether $2.9 million, is to make our building fully accessible and add much-needed space by building an addition in our side yard.
